Read it, Swap it! 28th June

21 June 2009, by Diana Varbanescu

A team of 10 on our side will meet with Pan-London Book Circle (a fairly small group (6-8) who meet about every 6 weeks to read contemporary novels mainly, but sometimes poetry and, on occasion, biography). This time we’ll follow their rules (well, I mean, it would be nice to have some rules for a change):

- we meet at 7 pm to discuss a specific book: Eliade’s Youth without youth is our choice for 28th June;

- someone volunteers to present the book (this only means introducing it and saying a few things to get the discussion going)

- we discuss the book for up to an hour; then stop for something to eat (we each bring food and drink to share)

- the evening ends between 9.30 – 10.00pm, having chosen the next date and venue.

This is an excellent opportunity to discuss a book by a well-known Romanian author with a group with whom we share similarities, but whose members haven’t been in contact with Romanian literature before.

Whether you already are a member, or you are new to our group, if you read, enjoy literature and you’re ready to discuss Youth without youth… you’re in the right place! Please let us know if you’re interested in joining this meeting!

As I have already mentioned, it’ll be a smaller group this time, maximum 10 of us, so we’ll have to confirm guests on a first-come first-served basis.

  • Thanks everyone for your comments. Just to be clear: some of our meetings are open to everyone (no booking required and a meeting place announced on our website), other meetings are for a limited number of participants only (booking required and confirmation received by email - including the address).

    This time, Carole, the lady organising this meeting, kindly offered to host the meeting at her house. This is why we chose not to publish her address online.

  • For the record, everytime I went on the website to check if anyone had answered my message on Sunday my Mac was reposting the message, so that is why you got 4 ... I got there alright and I have no complains :) thanks Diana.

    Can we also please keep messages decent and fight battles in private? Otherwise it's too bad for the intetion of this group and all the work behind it.

    See you next time, M

  • ha, mihaela 'the old one'!
